Job Description

** POSITION OVERVIEW

**

**

**

Perform troubleshooting and general maintenance, repair, or service work on a wide variety of dairy equipment and related machinery.

**

**

** ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

**

**

**

  1. Promote a professional image at all times; inspect, clean and maintain vehicles, trailers, etc. daily; keep all work and storage areas clean and orderly at all times.

  2. Accurately assess or troubleshoot defective machines and equipment to determine solutions for repairs; utilize equipment manufacturers support staff as needed; communicate problems to customers and make recommendations; inform management of project requirements when instructed.

  3. Dismantle equipment, install new or repaired parts, safety devices, etc. to perform timely repairs or equipment upgrades to customer expectations; maintain quality; test equipment after work is complete to insure proper functionality; instruct customer appropriately.

  4. Thoroughly perform scheduled maintenance to prescribed methods and procedures; maximize efficiency; make recommendations to customers to improve equipment performance.

  5. Gather from inventory and organize repair parts needed for jobs; communicate purchase requirements to appropriate personnel for ordering; maintain an orderly inventory of commonly used repair parts in service vehicle; return unused parts to main inventory location.

  6. Travel as needed to effectively execute service and maintenance duties; remain “on-call” for emergency service as instructed by management.

  7. Regularly complete job sheets, timesheets, and related paperwork accurately, thoroughly, neatly and timely to prescribed procedures; solicit appropriate information from customers and assist them in completing forms as needed; forward all documents to the appropriate personnel; provide copies to customers.

  8. Provide service and maintenance support to customers and other employees.

  9. Assist on special projects, equipment installations, new construction, etc as directed.

  10. Continuously work to increase personal knowledge of equipment and specialized service techniques; participate in formal and informal training programs as directed by management.

  11. Clean up job related work areas prior to departure; dispose of old parts, packaging, etc. appropriately.

  12. Keep current a valid driver’s license as required by law.

  13. Maintain a safe working environment; promote and follow safe work practices; comply with company safety policies.

  14. Perform all other duties as assigned.

** QUALIFICATIONS

**

High school diploma required, with two years of technical school training or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience as determined by the Dairy and Livestock Division Manager; possess a broad knowledge in a variety of trade fundamentals concerning mechanical, electrical, and plumbing related skills; fluent welding skills to include stainless steel; strong communication, organization and leadership skills required; ability to interpret blue prints is required; ownership of standard maintenance tools for use at work is required; a valid driver’s license is required.

The employee regularly is required to bend, twist, reach, squat, climb, kneel and stoop. The employee must be able to hear and communicate verbally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to drive a large truck or a large truck and trailer. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally and momentarily work near moving mechanical parts, may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually lower to moderate.
