About Us:
Easterseals PORT Health, a non-profit service provider in North Carolina and Virginia, is seeking an energetic and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support children with disabilities and behavioral challenges in our After-School Recreation Program. Part-time Schedule:

(M-F, 2:30pm-5:30pm)

What You'll Do:
As a DSP, you will:

• Provide support to children (K-12) in the After-School Recreation program under the guidance of the Recreation & Wellness Supervisor.
• Help children develop and increase skills in self-help, independent living, and community access.
• Assist in program activities, ensuring children’s safety, health, hygiene, and nutritional needs are met.
• Lift and transfer children as needed.
• Support transportation needs as a Vehicle Driver or Vehicle Monitor, ensuring safe transportation to/from the Empower site and field trips.

What We're Looking For:

• Minimum age of 18, with a high school diploma or GED (21+ if driving agency vehicles)
• Preferably one year of college or equivalent experience
• At least two years of experience working with children with developmental disabilities, in daycare or school-age recreation settings
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license and current vehicle insurance
• Reliable transportation for use in the program and/or willingness to drive program participants in agency vehicles (van or mini-bus)
