The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a dynamic Information Security Specialist III with 10+ Years of progressive technical experience in information technology and/or information security and Security Certifications such as CompTIA, CISSP, or CISA.

Under the administrative direction of the Information Technology Manager II (ITM II), the Information Technology Specialist III (ITS III) serves as the lead expert within the Information Security Office (ISO) in security compliance, vulnerability assessment, security control testing, risk analysis, business continuity planning, and cloud security compliance to support the continued cybersecurity readiness for CDI. The incumbent applies advanced technical expertise to ensure compliance with state, federal, and industry regulations such as National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-53, NIST 800-171, Center for Internet Security (CIS) Controls, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and cloud security frameworks. Master-level technical expertise is crucial for the ITS III role, as it ensures the effective implementation and management of security measures for the California Department of Insurance (CDI). The ITS III role advises executive leadership on cybersecurity strategy and risk management policies to ensure CDI’s security initiatives align with regulatory and business objectives. A strong technical understanding of these standards is essential for conducting thorough vulnerability assessments, security control testing, and risk analyses, safeguarding the organization's information assets.
This position is designated under the Conflict-of-Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment. Failure to comply with the Conflict-of-Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.
