Position Summary:
The K-5 Teacher at ScholarMade Achievement Place will be responsible for delivering instruction in all core content areas, including Literacy, Math, Science, and Social Studies, to students in grades Kindergarten through 4th grade. The teacher will create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that supports the intellectual, emotional, and social development of young learners. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood education, possess strong foundational knowledge in literacy and numeracy, and be skilled in using differentiated instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Instructional Planning and Delivery:
- Plan and implement engaging, standards-based lessons in all core subjects (Literacy, Math, Science, and Social Studies) that support academic growth and development.
- Use developmentally appropriate instructional strategies that address the varied learning needs and developmental stages of young learners.
- Create a structured and nurturing classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn.
- Integrate hands-on learning experiences, including the use of manipulatives, technology, and project-based learning, to promote active engagement and understanding.
- Literacy Instruction:
- Implement ScholarMade’s literacy blocks in accordance with the Achievement Guide, which includes Phonological Awareness, Phonics, Word Recognition, fluency, vocabulary, oral language comprehension, and text comprehension with additional reading time for grades 2-4.
- Use research-based literacy instruction programs and resources, including guided reading, shared reading, and phonics-based instruction, to build foundational reading and writing skills.
- Foster a love for reading through read-alouds, storytelling, and interactive literacy activities.
- Math Instruction:
- Deliver math instruction that builds a solid foundation in number sense, counting, addition and subtraction, and problem-solving using programs
- Use manipulatives, visuals, and interactive activities to help students understand mathematical concepts and apply them to real-world situations.
- Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, adjusting instruction to meet individual needs.
- Science and Social Studies Integration:
- Integrate Science and Social Studies instruction into daily lessons, focusing on inquiry-based learning and exploration.
- Teach scientific concepts through hands-on experiments, observations, and investigations that foster curiosity and critical thinking.
- Incorporate reading comprehension strategies aligned with the RC Standards during Social Studies lessons to promote literacy across the curriculum.
- Classroom Management and Culture:
- Establish and maintain a positive and structured classroom environment that promotes student responsibility, respect, and academic achievement.
- Implement classroom management strategies aligned with ScholarMade’s emotional intelligence framework, supporting students’ social-emotional development.
- Foster a growth mindset by encouraging perseverance, effort, and problem-solving in all subject areas.
- Data-Driven Instruction:
- Regularly assess student progress using both formative and summative assessments in all content areas.
- Use assessment data to differentiate instruction and provide targeted interventions for students who need additional support.
- Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to analyze data and collaborate with colleagues on best practices for improving student outcomes.
- Family Engagement:
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, classroom activities, and ways to support learning at home.
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences and engage families in their child’s education through ongoing communication, workshops, and school events.
- Provide resources and strategies to families that promote academic success and social-emotional development.
- Collaboration and Professional Development:
- Collaborate with grade-level colleagues, academic facilitators, and interventionists to support student growth and improve instructional practices.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities, including training on best practices for early childhood education, literacy instruction, and data-driven instruction.
- Work closely with the Special Education team to differentiate instruction and provide appropriate accommodations and modifications for students with IEPs or 504 plans.

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Certification: Valid Arkansas teaching certification in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in with a focus on early literacy and numeracy development.
- Experience working with diverse learners and providing differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development and instructional strategies for teaching reading, writing, and math.
- Proficiency in using data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.
- Effective classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
