About the Role
As an Instructor & Clinical Coordinator, you will play a dual role in both teaching and guiding students through their transition from the classroom to hands-on clinical experiences. Your responsibilities will include instructing specific PTA courses, coordinating clinical placements, and building relationships with clinical partners to enhance student opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Faculty Engagement
Deliver engaging and informative lectures in assigned PTA courses.
Utilize a variety of teaching methods and instructional technologies to enhance learning.
Provide timely feedback and assessment to support student success.
Foster critical thinking and communication skills through engaging assignments and discussions.
Maintain accurate student records, including attendance and grading, in the learning management system.
Participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities to stay current in the field.
Student Support & Retention
Implement data-driven strategies to enhance student retention and success.
Serve as a mentor and resource for students navigating their educational journey.
Maintain confidentiality while collaborating with academic leadership to address student concerns.
Clinical Course Coordination
Oversee clinical course placement, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards and program objectives.
Establish and maintain relationships with clinical site partners to foster long-term partnerships.
Coordinate clinical orientations for students and site supervisors.
Monitor student attendance and engagement during clinical courses, ensuring required hours are met.
Act as the primary liaison between students, clinical sites, and academic leadership to address challenges and ensure a seamless clinical experience.
Collect and analyze clinical course feedback to enhance program quality and student outcomes.
Participate in career fairs and employer outreach to expand clinical and job placement opportunities.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs, as needed in lab settings.
Standing and walking for extended periods (up to 4+ hours daily).
Bending, kneeling, and performing physical tasks required for instructional demonstrations.
Work may take place in various environments, including classrooms, labs, clinical sites, and online.
Travel between campuses and clinical sites may be required.
For Distance Education Instruction (if applicable):
Proficiency in digital teaching platforms and online course facilitation.
Ability to maintain a professional and distraction-free virtual teaching environment.
Technical troubleshooting skills to ensure smooth online learning experiences.
Qualifications
Graduate of a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant program (Associate degree required; Bachelor's preferred).
Minimum three (3) years of full-time post-licensure clinical practice.
At least two (2) years of experience as a Clinical Instructor (CI) or Site Coordinator of Clinical Education (SCCE) OR two (2) years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a PTA or PT program.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with CampusVue is a plus.
