Position: Sr. Red Hat Linux Administrator
Description:
We are seeking a Sr. Red Hat Linux Administrator consultant to manage and optimize the AOC’s Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. The resource will be responsible for ensuring system stability, security, and performance while supporting a range of enterprise applications.
This role requires advanced expertise in Linux administration, automation, troubleshooting, and security best practices.
Responsibilities include: Installing, configuring, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across development, testing, and production environments; performing system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening; monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues; implementing automation scripts with Ansible, Bash, or Python; configuring and maintaining Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and other tools; collaborating with security teams; maintaining and optimizing storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions; supporting application teams for Linux-based deployments; maintaining documentation; participating in on-call support; setting up Network File Servers (NFS) and mount points; and configuring Cron jobs for both systems and applications.
Requirements: Required education: Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field (as determined by the AOC).
Certifications: Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator certification (must provide valid cert number).
Other requirements include submission of certification evidence and degree documentation.
Skills and experience: 15+ years of experience in IT; 10+ years of Red Hat system administration (including configuration and tuning); 10+ years administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems; strong teamwork, effective communication, leadership, and troubleshooting skills across operating systems.
Preferred experience includes working in complex networked system environments, administering specific systems and enterprise infrastructure, and experience with recovery methodologies, application development, Red Hat support, electronic imaging support, backup database systems, and ensuring system availability.
Candidates should demonstrate ability to manage application levels and deliver enterprise-level IT solutions.
