Job Description

Salary: $80,000 - 120,000 per year Requirements:

  • We require that candidates possess an active Secret clearance, and due to agency and contract requirements, all candidates must be U.S. citizens with no dual citizenship. Our contract supports systems that necessitate 24/7/365 uptime, so candidates must be willing and able to participate in a rotational on-call schedule if required. We expect that candidates reside within a commutable distance to ensure availability to work onsite at the customer's discretion, especially during the transition period. Prospective applicants should be based around Annapolis Junction, MD. A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is mandatory, along with a minimum of 7 years of experience working as a system administrator on Linux or Red Hat systems.
Responsibilities:
  • As a Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Administrator, my team and I will look to you to administer and maintain the RHEL-based server infrastructure, including installation, configuration, and patch management. You will work with RHEL 7.x/8.x, performing system administration tasks that entail installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance. Monitoring system performance is a vital part of your role; you will need to identify bottlenecks and implement optimization strategies to maintain optimal performance and reliability. Additionally, you will be responsible for performing system backups and recovery processes to ensure high availability and data protection. Your expertise will be valuable in evaluating and recommending hardware and software solutions to meet business requirements and enhance our RHEL server environment. I also expect that you'll create and maintain documentation related to system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Performing vulnerability scans using common tools like Tenable and HP WebInspect will be essential. Lastly, investigating security breaches, risks, and attacks while creating mitigation plans and implementing both proactive and retrospective solutions will be part of your duties.
